At GrowBro, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Provide
GrowBro is designed with privacy in mind. All cultivation data you enter into the app, including:
- Grow session information (plant strains, dates, notes)
- Daily activity logs (watering, feeding, environmental data)
- Photos and images
- Custom strain and additive libraries
...is stored locally on your device only using encrypted SQLite databases. We do not sync this data to any cloud servers or external services.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
We collect minimal technical information necessary for app functionality:
- Device type and operating system version (for compatibility)
- App version number (for update notifications)
- Crash reports and error logs (anonymized, for bug fixes)
- Device fingerprint (a unique identifier based on device hardware characteristics, used to enforce the free tier's 1 grow total limit and prevent abuse through repeated reinstallations)
About Device Fingerprinting: To maintain fair access to our free tier, we generate a device fingerprint using non-personal hardware characteristics of your device (such as device model, manufacturer, and OS version). This fingerprint is stored locally and used solely to track whether your device has previously created a grow under the free tier. This prevents users from bypassing the "1 grow total" limit by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The fingerprint does not contain any personal information and cannot be used to identify you individually. Pro users are not subject to this limitation.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the GrowBro app functionality
- Improve app performance and user experience
- Diagnose and fix technical issues
- Communicate with you about updates and support
- Process in-app purchases (handled by Google Play)
We do not:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Use your cultivation data for advertising
- Share your information with law enforcement without legal requirement
- Track your location or access your personal files
3. Data Storage & Security
3.1 Local Storage
All your grow data is stored locally on your device using industry-standard SQLite encryption. This means:
- Your data stays on your device
- No internet connection required for core features
- You maintain complete control over your information
3.2 Data Backups
GrowBro does not automatically back up your data to cloud services. You can export your data manually using the app's export feature (CSV, PDF, or JSON formats) and store backups wherever you choose.
3.3 Security Measures
We implement security measures including:
- Encrypted database storage
- Secure coding practices
- Regular security audits
- Limited permission requests (camera, storage only when needed)
4. Third-Party Services
